The Bay of Islands is a 31/2 hour scenic drive north of Auckland, via State Highway 1 through Warkworth, Wellsford and Whangarei. At the Kawakawa turn-off leave Highway 1 and drive straight on to Paihia and Bay of Islands on Hyw.11. 12km on will bring you to Opua Hill. There the road forks. To the right will take you to the car ferry across to Russell, to the left will take you on to nearby Paihia and straight ahead on to English Bay and Cliff Edge. Drive straight ahead. You find us by taking the third turn to the right into Richardson Road West.we are the first building on the left For people who prefer to fly, there is an airport at Whangarei (1 hour south of Opua) and Kerikeri (30 minutes north of Opua). Both have frequent services to Auckland by Air New Zealand links. Transfers to and from both airports can be arranged at a nominal charge. If you arrive from Kerikeri, make your way through Paihia to the Opua Hill. There turn left into English Bay Road and to Cliff Edge (straight ahead takes you to the ferry, right takes you South to Whangarei). |
